Senior leaders and middle management from MidwayUSA, an Internet Retailer of JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING® for Shooting, Hunting and the Outdoors, recently attended the 33rd Annual Quest for Excellence Conference where they were presented with MidwayUSA’s third Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. The conference was held April 3rd through 6th at the Gaylord National Harbor Resort and Convention Center, National Harbor, Maryland and served as the official conference of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
One of three organizations selected to receive the 2021 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, MidwayUSA applied for and was judged to be outstanding in the seven categories of the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence. Over the last 34 years, the National Institute of Standards and Technology has selected a total of 124 organizations to receive the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. A recipient of the award in 2009, and 2015, MidwayUSA is one of only two organizations to earn the award three times since the first award cycle in 1988. Past award recipients are eligible to apply for the award each five full years after receipt.
An awards ceremony was held Sunday evening, honoring Award Recipients for the past three years. Concurrent sessions were held throughout the next several days with MidwayUSA’s Senior Leadership Team leading presentations on Strategy, Customers, Measurement, Analysis & Knowledge Management, Workforce, and Operations. The conference concluded with One Key Takeaway presentations from Baldrige Award Recipients, including a presentation from Matt Fleming, President and CEO of MidwayUSA, entitled “Customers Come First.”
MidwayUSA recognizes the application process as a leadership and development opportunity for Employees, and for the MidwayUSA organization as a whole. In alignment with its continued pursuit of performance excellence, MidwayUSA plans to apply for the award again in 2027 in accordance with the Baldrige National Quality Award eligibility cycle.
