In 1978, Richard Kellerman and Paul Neilson founded Neilson-Kellerman. Richard, being a trained chemist, was recruited along with Paul to assist with the development of technology designed to simplify a coxswain’s duties on the river. Nielson-Kellerman would expand into wind and weather instruments in 1996, and Kestrel’s brand was taken to a new level. These devices, most notably the Kestrel 4000 released in 2001, launched Kestrel as a premier brand in the industry, providing accurate wind speed, temperature, and humidity measurements. Kestrel has continued to innovate, expand, and release exciting new products for its consumers.
