The Military Surplus Improved Load Bearing Equipment (ILBE) System provides the United States Marines with a durable and comfortable pack by incorporating advances made in the civilian backpacking world. The ILBE system can be worn in different configurations for the mission, hunt, or hike. The Main pack features a cavernous 4,500 cubic inch top-loading design which easily accommodates a sleeping bag and several days’ worth of clothing. The smaller assault pack has 1,500 cubic inches of capacity and allows the user to customize the load to only mission essential gear. The 100 oz hydration system ensures you have enough H2O to complete the mission.
The Main pack of the ILBE system allows users to carry up to 120 pounds as comfortably as possible. Customizable for both men and women, the rigid internal frame combined with a padded, contoured waist belt, and shoulder straps make this pack an excellent choice for all types of activities. The body is made of abrasion and mildew resistant 725 Denier Cordura material that is paired with heavy-duty zippers. All seams are taped, reinforced, and sewn to Military specification. Because this pack was originally intended for combat troops, it has generous amounts of MOLLE webbing. Two shallow pouches on either side of the pack make for excellent storage of rolled up sleeping pads, a single man tent or MREs. The sides also incorporate pass-through pockets that allow users to carry trek poles or machetes without sacrificing MOLLE real estate.
The ILBE Assault Pack is 100% Nylon and features a hydration compartment, padded shoulder straps with a sternum strap to reduce side-to-side motion, a two-inch “one size fits all” waist belt and quick release buckles. Compression straps and buckles can be found along the sides for attaching to the ILBE Rucksack.
The ILBE Pack System comes equipped with a Source Hydration 100 oz hydration system designed to keep the user hydrated while on the move. The hydration system can be worn by using the shoulder straps or employing the “carabineer” type clips found on the system. “Carabineer” style clips have been included so Marines/Sailors can affix the hydration system onto gear that contains MOLLE weave attach points.
